Today we drove through Dunedin towards the Otago Peninsula where we decided to take a tour to see the yellow eyes penguins which are the rarest penguins in the world. We were able to walk around a reserve where the penguins go on a daily basis. At this time of year they are malting so there were feathers everywhere and some of the penguins were half fluffy and half slick. We were also able to see seals in the wild as they come up onto the rocks in the reserve. Our guide recommended going to Allans Beach where we could see sea lions in their natural habitat so we decided to head there on our way back. As soon as we reached the beach, Rich was able to spot a huge sea lion which I at first thought was just some wood! Apparently they are quite viscous so we kept our distance. We saw another three sea lions and on our walk back along the beach the first sea lion decided to take a very a short walk, which was funny to watch as they have a great waddle!
