So unfortunately our flight was delayed from Sydney by two hours which meant we had missed the office hours to pick up our camper van and we therefore had to find somewhere to stay for the evening. Luckily there was an information point at Christchurch airport and they booked us a dormitory at a campsite near the airport. We had the dorm to ourselves so we were able to get an early night and get up bright and early to go and pick up our camper van. The camp staff were very nice and took us to the spaceship (camper van) depot. Our spaceship is called Pandora and after we had a tour of all her features we were on the road heading towards the Moeraki Boulders. After a three hour drive we reached the beach where there are lots of boulders which are perfectly spherical in the sand that are around 60 million years old which have become exposed due to cliff erosion.
After exploring we headed to a DOC campsite which luckily for us had flushing toilets but no showers but for £3 each a night who can complain, and it was in such a lovely setting.
The scenery here is lovely and started off very flat but has now become very hilly with limestone rock formations.
