What a fun weekend! A bunch of little random things but all together a very great time.
Friday was a miserable day. I planned on going to the museum but decided to postpone so I didn't have to walk in the rain. Also meant pushing back laundry duties until a nicer day. In the evening it cleared off so I headed down to visit the peeps on the Southside to watch movies. We watched Eddie the Eagle and I give it two thumbs up (including the super random appearance by Christopher Walkin).
On Saturday I headed back down to Chapel St, but took a more scenic route to get there.
First I took a stroll on the south bank to catch some late afternoon views of the Yarra. Then I headed up the Eureka Skydeck. It's a big building with an awesome viewing lounge on the 88th floor. A comparable setup to the CN Tower in Toronto. I got there at the perfect time lye in the afternoon so I could catch the city in the light, the sunset, and the dark. The views were absolutely amazing on all sides. The sunsets here are phenomenal to begin with, but from this angle it was really unreal.
After chilling out up there for a while I took the scenic route to chapel street through the botanical gardens. I walked along the Tan Track (a popular running route) and made a stop by the shrine of remembrance (a larger than life war monument). It was a bit of a hike all the way down, but there was lots to see along the way.
I ended the night by catching back up with the peeps on Chapel Street (a sight in its own right). After a few drinks to warm up we hit a couple bars, including the go-to (the Luvky Coq) and finished strong with a trip to Hungry Jacks (Aussie Burger King).
Sunday morning was slow but involved watching Napoleon Dynamite, going out for an enormous breakfast, and some thrift and outlet shopping (what a combo).
Overall a fantastic combination of fun stuff. Happy to get out and see lots of what Melbourne has to offer, because I'm running out of weekends!
Stay weird.
