A work day on the beach + A souvenir that will last forever + A visit from an adventurous Canuck = A
Coronet Bay, Victoria
Weeeoooo, it's been an amazing week with lots of highlights!
Wednesday was a super fun day. We did a site visit to a Stand Up Paddle Board program in Coroner Bay for the project I'm working on at La Trobe. It was an early start to get to the CBD to meet my ride and get the two hour drive in before the program started at 10, but nothing a little coffee couldn't fix.
At the beach, the program was very fun. It's a community program for moms to get out paddling. Most of them have kids and they all take shifts watching them so everyone gets a chance to get out on the water. It made for a very busy beach with lots of kids - so much fun! I got to chat with lots of ladies and get some contact info to do interviews for the project (I actually knocked off 9 of them the next day, which is huge).
Friday, I went to Rites of Passage, a "tattoo, art & music festival" with my mate Jordy. There were so many awesome artists there. The theme was neo-traditional so tons of the Sailor Jerry style work.
I went in with plans to rock up and get one done. I've been shopping for a long time and felt ready to take the plunge - and so I did. I went to a guy that I had scoped out on Instagram prior to the day and I couldn't be happier. He was super chill and drew up a swallow for me exactly how I wanted right on the spot. It's awesome. I love it (see pictures).
Saturday was also a fun day. I had a nice little visit from Elyssia. She had just arrived from Tasmania and is cycling through to Sydney so she crashed on my couch for the evening. We did a little exploring in the burbs and found a really cool little night market in Coburg to have dinner (when I say cool I mean it, they had multiple DJs and a set list spinning a fun mix of throwbacks and ambient house beats) and then grabbed a jug of cider at the local pub. It was a quick visit but fun to catch up with someone from home and compare stories about the places we had visited.
Overall, it was a pretty phenomenal week. A little work, a little play, and a lot of fun. Hopefully next week is just as eventful!
Keep it weird boys and girls and non-conformers.
