I know. I know.
I told you guys that I would update more once I got back from my trip with Keri. But, honestly I've just been relaxing and enjoying myself so much here in Tuebingen that I haven't gotten around to sitting down and updating. I figured though that I could take a little time today and give you all a short update of what I've been doing here.
After I got back from Ireland with Keri (this will be addressed in an Ireland post), my classes actually started and I now have resopnsibilities again. These however are actually kind of a joke compared to what I'm used to at Michigan.
I only have class two days a week. On Tuesday's I have my two University classes. These are with all Germans, and actually really stressful to be in. The entire time I have to concentrate so hard on understanding the sentences that it's hard for me to put the information into context. One of them is Religion and Migration (this one I just sit in on) and the other is Buddhism and Hinduism in the West. This is the class I'm actually planning on finishing and hopefully getting credit for. In order to do this though I am required to give a 30 minute presentation, then lead a discussion over Hinduisum in America. In German. I have to do this on Tuesday (the 26th), and it's really my only source of any kind of stress here. I'm really nervous about it, but hopefully I'll just get it done and over with and be finished with it!
On Wednesday's I have all of my International classes. So these are with all the other international students (other people who also can't speak German well) and the teachers are really understanding. I have a work with text, German small talk, creative writing, and a speech training course. The most I ever have to do is read a text for one, then write a 1-2 page text about whatever I want for homework. Which I have from Thursday-Tuesday to do. bahaha.
This is why I love it here. They really know how to slow down and enjoy life. I'm always able to just go and have a coffee with someone or sit in the park for hours of entertainment from the crazy people. Especially since the weather is starting to turn gorgeous I can't stay away from the park if I try!
Other than walks, park time, teaching myself to cook, and my little bit of homework... Nights and other times are spent hanging out with people here. Going to bars, the pool, the gummy bear shop, and oh yeah! I can do Gymnastics with the Germans here for free!
It was decided last week sometime what I'm going to be doing over my week vacation for the first week in June. I'm going camping in Croatia!! My friend Ben bought a tent at a flea market here for 5 Euro so I helped him fix it up again, and before I knew it we were booking flights to get there! I'll be there from June 2nd-9th. I'm really looking forward to it :)
Anyways, today is Feiertag here. I have no idea why it's a holiday... but there's no classes, and the German thing to do is hike, grill, and drink. So later on we're having a Grill Party here in my Dorm and until then I really need to work on my presentation for next week. I swear though, once I'm done with that I'll get to work on my updates of all the amazing places I've been!
Here's my address one more time:
