Thursday 20th August pm - Dundee
We walked down the hill to the centre of the town to find a place for lunch. Twas a big steep hill that we would have to walk back up at some stage!!
We saw a menswear shop and I tried on a couple of jackets which fitted really well but on reflection over lunch thought that at the conversion rate they were too expensive.
We had BLT and a beer at a really nice pub, a bit more upmarket than the pubs we had been to in England of late.
After lunch we walked down to the waterfront to have a look at the ship, Discovery which was built in Dundee at a cost of £34,000.00. It was not a Royal Navy ship but a research ship that was built specifically to sail to the Antartic with Robert Falcon Scott as captain. After the ship returned the journey was hailed as a success although there was a huge cost in getting the ship out of the sea ice.
We walked back to our B&B up "cardiac" hill and boy were we sweating in spite of the fact that we stopped a couple of times on the way up.
