Saturday 3rd October - Medieval Festival in the Square Gambetta
Square Gambetta was set up with stalls around the outside and the feature of most of these was that the goods for sale were done in the old traditions. The people that maned the stalls were all dressed in medieval costume and some of these were very elaborate.
We stopped at an ale stall that was already very well patronised so I lined up to try an Old Ale. I got my glass and moved to a bench with all of these people dressed as peasants.
I sat down and introduced myself as being from New Zealand and these people were so happy to finally know someone from Lord of the Rings country.
It was lovely just sitting and chatting. Sitting and chatting is the favourite pastime of the French.
Seems that this festival happens only once a year and although it is organised it is not and individuals just turn up and do their thing. Brilliant.
