This morning, we drove to Haleakala National Park which contains the highest volcanic crater on Maui. There is an amazing road all the way to the summit and the views are spectacular. We were well above cloud level and had clear blue sky at the summit, which is at 10,023 feet. In the distance on the neighbouring island of Hawaii, we could even see Mauna Kea with its snow cap. Mauna Kea is a lot higher at 13,796 feet but we hadn't been able to drive past the Visitors Centre which was at 9,200 feet.
In the afternoon, we headed off along the road to Hana which is famed as a scenic drive. However, it's a long way there and with only one road in, so we turned back before we got there.
We spent the last part of the afternoon taking a walk along our own Napili Beach before cooking some steaks and enjoying dinner on the balcony with the sunset.
