This was our last morning on the Big Island so we spent the time looking over the shops. We bought some genuine Kona Coffee to take home and we walked through the grounds of the old palace.
There was a cruise ship in this morning and we enjoyed watching some of the activity involved in bringing the passengers ashore in tenders and despatching them on tour buses.
All too soon, it was time to check out and take the trusty little Mazda back to the airport where we caught another Hawaiian B717 across to Maui.
It was only an 18 minute flight... There was barely enough time to distribute the juice beverages before we began our descent into Maui. Unfortunately, the joy of the quick hop between islands was somewhat marred by the ridiculously long queue to collect the hire car! I lost track of the time but I think I stood in that queue for at least an hour.
When I finally had the keys in hand, we proceeded the full length of Row F where our next little Mazda 2 was supposed to be waiting. When we got to the far end and I hadn't seen anything like a Mazda 2, we started up the row again, closely checking the number plates. Lo and behold! I found the right number plate on a massive, near new Mazda CX-9 so we hopped aboard and congratulated ourselves on our good fortune!
We drove across the island to our accomodation at Outrigger Napili Shores, ducked out again to pick up some fish and chips and enjoyed dinner sitting on our balcony watching the sunset over Honokeana Bay.
