At 8am, this being Sunday, the church bells rang loudly as Azamara Journey anchored in the harbour. We enjoyed another sumptuous breakfast provided by our hosts and then caught a local bus to Kamari on the other side of the island.
Kamari is a beach resort with heaps of hotels lining the esplanade. The beach is of black gravelly sand and is covered in sun beds and thatch umbrellas which are for hire. There are also many cafes lining the edge of the beach and every one of them tries hard to entice you in for food or a drink.
After catching the bus back to Fira, we had lunch, did a little shopping and watched the Louis Olympia enter port. This was of particular interest as we will be on this ship in 8 days time. After dinner at one of the restaurants, we made our way back home with the sun beginning to set. When the Louis Olympia left at 9pm the sunset was the best we have seen so far and the last glow didn't fade until after 10pm.
