Lovely sunny day yet again! Took a free bus ride to our third activity - horse riding! Was so excited and it didnt disappoint!
We arrived to find a dozen or so male horses kept in small paddock all saddled up, but looking quite sad! I noticed that there was no grass nor hay for them.
We were then asked to line up against the fence and the guides led out two horses at a time. I was first to mount! I had a white horse named Navahoe, who was so well tempered! Amy Mounted a dark brown horse named Dingo! We were given a few instructions with the reins, then followed the guide out of the pen, one behind eachother. I was behind Amy for about fifteen minutes, then Navahoe decided to canter past Dingo as he apparently likes to be in the lead! We rode through mostly woodland and after crossing though Bow river, we rode right past a huge male elk lyeing down in the woods! His antlers were huge! The guide did say that she knew the signs for when elk were about to attack, so we were fairly safe!
We then crossed through a deeper part of the river and then up quite steep parts of the mountain! Some parts of the trail were really muddy and at one part Navahoe decided to avoid the mud and go through the over-hanging parts of the trees! He was such a pleasure to ride and had such a lovely temperment! This was definately a highlight of my trip so far and well worth the money! I could have stayed with the horses all day!
