So excited as we went to Alcatraz today! We caught a tram from Downtown to Pier 33 and then caught a ferry over to the island. The island itself is a mile and a half away from the mainland and so we were able to see it from the pier. As we were on the ferry waiting to leave the port I spotted a seal swimming around by the jetty! I couldn't believe it, my first wild seal!....Put a huge smile on my face! Cannot believe how mild the weather is here in San Francisco CA. It's around 11degrees at the moment which is so much warmer than what we have been used to in the past few destinations we've been to! Cannot wait to see what San Fran has to offer! We've only explored the surrounding area of our hostel but I have a good feeling about this place! The location of our hostel is great - its in the centre of the city which is really handy!

Had a long flight from New York to San Francisco - just under six hours! Couldn't believe that it would take that long to fly from the east to the west coast! Me being naive I suppose! Landed at 9pm and so now eight hours behind GMT again.

Got woken up at 04:30 this morning by a man....Amy had gone to check the time on the clock/radio and touched the radio button, which blared out the radio at ridiculous o'clock! We had to laugh!
