Went to one of our booked trips today as the weather held out, we decided to go canoeing on Bow river. Amy didn't want to steer the boat so she sat in the front seat. I wasn't confident with steering as I'd never done it before, but gave it go! It was so much more difficult than I thought it would be! It was hard enough to paddle upstream let alone steer aswel! My arms ached for a while after!
We then went to the Banff Gondola as it was a fairly clear day.
The gondola going up the mountain was so steep. It was a little scarry, but the views were amazing! I was quite suprised as to how high we were! We were able to see Banff town and was amazed at just how small the town is! Was great to see it at an airel view - made me really appreciate the twon and the surrounding National Park. We were also able to spot where we had been the previous few days and saw Lake Minniewanka, which I found amuzing - hopefully we'll get to see this lake before we set off again!
On our way back to the hostel, we came across a herd of elk grazing right outside our hostel! We had to keep our distance and walk around them as they can be quite dangerous. It was amazing to see though - you'd never get that feeling back home!
I'm really looking forward to horse riding tomorrow, this is the key event for me!
I'm starting to really miss Nicola and Laura now - it kind of hit me this morning!
