Set an early alarm to catch the 09:30 GreyHound to Lake Louise today. Was about a 30minute ride away. Once arriving, we had a long walk up the mountain by road side to get to the lake. It took a little over an hour to walk, but once there - it was well worth the hike! I'd seen Lake Louise in pictures and had wanted to visit, but I was speachless as to just how magnificent the scenery was! The colours in the lake was nothing like I'd seen and the deep snow ontop of mount Victoria was beautiful. Amy summed it up perfectly; it's just like a painted backdrop.
I'm upset that my camera connot pick up all the colours and detail that we saw today. With views like today I can honestly say that this trip is well worth it! By far the best day so far!
The weather started off cloudy and very cold, but by mid day the sun was out! Rain had been forecast for the afternoon, but we were very luckily and didn't see any, which was handy as we had to hike back down the mountain!
On the way back to Banff town we saw an elk with its baby - the female was bloody huge! We needed to cross the road and they were waiting on the other side to cross, so we walked right passed them - keeping our distance though!
