Yesterday we travelled south west from The Daintree up the range to Atherton Tablelands. We had some very long and steep up hill sections but the Zuki performed very well apart from producing our worst fuel consumption so far of 18lt/100km but that was to be expected! Then 5km before Mareeba we had a blow out on the caravan destroying the tyre. A quick wheel change later we drove into Mareeba where we had 2x new tyres fitted. While the tyres were being fitted we stocked up on some groceries and then travelled a few kilometers further to a 'free' camping area called Rocky Creek Memorial Park, a very nice spot and very popular with travelers of all types. Last night we had some issues with our 12v battery system having been drained of power so out came the generator to recharge and yep you guessed it, out came a Gray Gonad, oops I mean Nomad to have a whinge!! It wasn't very loud at all! I apologised to our immediate neighbour about the generator and he didn't realise we were using it! Unfortunately, we have found that a lot of the older travelers have little to no tolerance for children or noise of any kind, which has been a disappointing part of our journey so far!
Today we relaxed and we all enjoyed a lovely warm shower in our portable ensuite which actually worked really well, better than most caravan park showers we've experienced! We are really enjoying meeting new people and seeing a variety of scenery this awesome country has to offer!
