Spanish Adventures
On Friday we had the opportunity to go and visit the Alhambra. It sits on a mountain looking over the city and used to be the palace/community for the Muslim king and his subjects. The place is absolutely massive. Even after about 800 years the walls are still standing - and they're standing pretty solid too.
Inside the walls is the actual palace where the king lived. Each room has walls decorated with intricate carving and that too has survived remarkably well, knowing how old it is. Looking thorough all of these rooms it's crazy to think about how much time went into the building of this palace.
While we were there we got a tour by one of the other professors from the school who specializes in all things arabic. While the tour was interesting and I did learn stuff, he talked a lot and it was one of those things were he would talk for 15 minutes, we would walk 20 feet, and then he would talk some more. I think I would have enjoyed it a little bit more if the talking was cutback and we had more time to walk around and look at everything ourselves. But overall it was really interesting to see everything.
Also remember a couple weeks ago when I said some of us climbed up, basically, a mountain? Well you could actually see the trail we went up from the Alhambra. Its hard to see but it's in the background of the last picture going up towards the tower on top of the mountain. Yes it was very steep.
