**This was from the Sunday of the same weekend we went to the Alhambra. For some reason it didn't post**
On Sunday our group headed over to the city of Padul, not far from Granada. We stopped first at an olive oil factory. They showed us how they pit the olives and make a paste from smushing the olives up, and then it eventually becomes olive oil. Now I love olive oil but I can't say the same for olives - especially the smell. So as interesting as this was the smell was so strong I was happy I was wearing a scarf so I could cover my nose. The best part was at the end they let us "sample" the olive oil. It was real good.
Afterwards we walked over to someone's house (to be honest I'm not sure whose house it was, maybe one of the professors?). Anyways, when we got there we were met by a famous chef whose name is totally escaping me right now and he made us some paella. It was quite a process but let me tell you, it was worth the wait.
The houses here have more property than in Granada since they're in more of a rural area and it was really nice to be out of the city for a little bit. It was really sunny out and we sat outside for probably two hours just eating and talking. It was a great way to end the weekend. Oh and I got a free gift from the olive oil place. You guessed it olive oil!
