I had 5 nights in Wellington and enjoyed nice relaxation before heading to a more adventurous queenstown. On my first day here I explored the city and visited the famous Ta Papa museum which was very big and educational (made my brain hurt having to think again, so didn't stay there too long!). I then went back to the hostel. I became friends with a german and Scottish guy in my hostel and we went for dinner together, walked up mount Victoria the following day and entered the pool competition to win $75. Unfortunately we did not win but it was good fun. Wellington really gets its nickname windy Wellington... It's so windy! One of the days I took the traditional cable car up to the botanical gardens overlooking the city. It was a beautiful day so I spent hours walking / sunbathing / napping in the beautiful gardens. The nice weather was short lived as the next day it was back to the wind / intermittent rain again! It was nice while it lasted though. The hostel i stayed in gave you free pancakes for breakfast and an evening meal so it was nice to save money on food whilst staying there. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Wellington but I couldn't wait to get to queenstown, as I had a feeling I would love this next destination :-)
