After a sleepy breakfast in lake aniwhenua we got on the bus on our way to lake taupo. On the way we stopped by some hot water pools at the bottom of a waterfall which we jumped in for a swim! It was like being in a bath, it was lovely :-) we then hopped on the bus for a short time before arriving at the Huka Falls. This was absolutely stunning. It's the picture you can see with me stood in front. The water was so blue and pure, it was amazing. After lots of photos and 'wowwwws' we drove to lake taupo. Again this was another stunning place. In fact I can go so far to say... My favourite place yet! This was somewhere I could see myself living. It was picture perfect and has everything you need. In the background there are three mountains (one of them, mount doom where Lord of the rings was filmed, the other tongariro which we will be climbing in a few days- 8 hours eek!). Then in front of the mountains, lake taupo with lots of sailing boats but incredibly calm clear blue water. You could fit Singapore into lake taupo it's that big. On the shore line you have taupo which has shops, cafe, restaurants, apartments and mountain bike rentals. It's not too big but has everything you need. So if I don't come back to England, you'll know where to find me ;-)
Myself, Tamara and Sandra (my favourite austrian friends) hopped off here because it was so nice and decided to stay 2 nights (the bus only spent an afternoon here..crazy!). In the afternoon, Tamara and Sandra went to do their skydive whilst I had a walk along the water front (I had already done my skydive so couldn't afford a second one unfortunately!). I checked us into the hostel for the best moment yet! When I went into our dorm all the beds were taken... So spoke to the reception who spoke with the manager... Looks like some people have extended their stay and not told reception. The manager said, 'come with me' and took me up to the balcony above, opened a door to what can only be described as a heavenly hotel room with 2 double beds and ensuite and said 'you've got an upgrade, is that ok?!' I've never been so happy!! To sleep in a room that's not filled with smelly travellers and have an ensuite bathroom was just amazing! So amazing that we all slept for 12 hours that night! Haha! The next day we went for a walk around the lake and just chilled. The weather has been really nice the last couple of days. It's so strange, when the sun is out it is so hot and you burn really quick, then 5 mins later the weather changes so quickly and you need your layers again because it's freezing! You have to prepare for all weathers, it's strange.
Tomorrow we hop back on the bus again, I am sad to leave my double bed!
