Unfortunately I was unable to do the infamous tongariro crossing as it was cancelled due to bad weather. We managed to do the first two hours of the walk which I was happy with as I still got got to see the mountains and the nice scenery. So I had to say good bye to my favourite austrian friends as they were heading back up north as their travels were coming to an end after 6 months. It was strange without them as we'd had a lot of fun together. I hopped on the stray bus and we headed down towards the capital city of New Zealand; Wellington. On our way we stopped for a challenge! Gum boot throwing (wellies). They actually do this as an official sport here! The record is 64m! We all had a go and the winner won a bottle of beer! We stopped in a couple more small towns along the way before arriving in Wellington late afternoon. I had a bit of a luck around, a free dinner (bonus!) and then went to bed. This hostel also does free unlimited pancakes for breakfast... Amazing! The next day I went to the famous museum 'Te papa' which was interesting. I got to go in an earthquake sinulater and feel what that was like. I then went for a nice walk through town and along the seafront which was nice. I then met 2 of the guys in my dorm and we went for a free dinner together. Tonight is the rugby league 4 nations final.. Australia vs New Zealand and it's in Wellington tonight! It should be a good game.
I'm here in Wellington until Wednesday when I have an internal flight to the queenstown in the South Island.
