We drove around Lake Taupo and into Tarangi to pick up food for lunch. We headed into the Tongariro National Park for a 2 hour walk. It was exhausting but we saw a huge waterfall & walked alongside mountain streams, some of which were frozen over/ The walk was pretty but we were knackered by the end, apparently the area was used when filming The Lord of the Rings. We came across a huge waterfall which was pretty spectacular. We then got back on the bus and made our way to River Valley an adventure lodge. The hostel itself was in the middle of nowhere situated on a river but it was lovely inside. We had a huge fire by the bar, lots of sofas, a massive jenga & huge projector screen- perfect for watching our first rugby game (The All Blacks vs South Africa). The dorms in the hostel were huge and could fit up to 16 people all side by side.
The following morning Arber went White Water rafting whilst I slept in and had a pretty lazy morning. He said it was great fun but I wasn't too keen on getting wet and it sounded quite dangerous to me..!
