We left Queenstown early the following morning after saying farewell to the people on the Kiwi Bus. We had a really long and boring drive to Christchurch which gave us some time to catch up on some well deserved sleep! We arrived in Christchurch late that afternoon and took a walk around town, bought some ingredients to make fajitas and watched a Maori choir singing in the square before heading back for some yummy food!
Again we left early the following morning and begun our drive to Kaikoura. We arrived late in the morning and took a walk around town. The sun was shining and very hot so we decided to sit outside and have lunch. The area was really beautiful and we were lucky enough to see a seal colony up close. They are so cute, I felt really lucky to see them basking in the sun in the wild.
We departed Kaikoura and made our way to Picton in order to catch the ferry back to the North Island. Unfortunately we arrived in Wellington in the late afternoon again so didn't have much time to look around. We had dinner and used the internet before departing to Taupo where we were very lazy and spent the evening watchng films, eating pasta and apple pie!
We left Taupo and made our way to Rotorua where David picked us up in th pouring rain to take us to Tauranga. It was really nice to be back at David and Maria's. Maria made delicious chicken sandwiches and we played Cranium, watched TV and filled them in on the rest of our trip so far. We had such a lovely time and really enjoyed spending time with them.
The following day David dropped us off in Rotorua in order for us to catch the bus back to Auckland. It was really sad to say goodbye to him knowing we wouldn't see him for a while. The bus back to Auckland was boring and the weather was very wet. We arrived back in Auckland in the late afternoon and headed to get some food.
Whilst in Auckland we had our first lie in for a while and then headed to the post office to send our winter clothes back home. For the rest of the afternoon we just chilled out around the city, going to the viaduct area and then to the Library before packing all of our bags and getting ready to say goodbye to New Zealand.
