We left Wanaka and stopped off at Puzzling World which was lots of fun & contained the World's first 3D maze & many different illusion rooms including one that completely offsets your balance & another where famous faces follow you around the room. After trying to complete the maze we left and drove around the edge of Lake Dunston towards the Kawarau Gorge. We stopped off at the Kawarau bridge where the first AJ Hackett bungy is, Arber signed up to do the Nevis (a 134m bungy jump!) and we had the 'Secrets of Bungy' tour. After everyone signed up to do the bungy (and I signed up purely as a spectator) we left and made our way into Queestown & had a group photo taken by the lake. Unfortunately Arber wasn't feeling too good this afternoon and had a fever so I just spent the afternoon checking out the area and organising our ski trip for the following day.
That evening we went out for our farewell drinks with out Kiwi Group. We went to the Altitude Bar, where we watched a band called After Glow. We had a really great night and it felt really sad saying goodbye to the people we had spent the last month with.
We woke up at 7am the following day after only 5hours sleep in order to go skiing. We boarded the shuttle bus to Coronet Peak to have our first ever ski lesson. We arrived at the peak and collected all of our equipment ready for our lesson at 10.30am. Our first lesson went well, we managed to learn how to stop & keep our balance and tested our skills down a relatively flat slope! After a break and some lunch we met up for our afternoon lesson this time learning to turn & we practiced on a slightly steeper slope. I was quite impressed with how well we did, I only fell over once which was quite an achievement, Arber fell over three times & claimed it was due to him not feeling too good!
Our final day in Queenstown was pretty active! Arber was booked to do the Nevis bungy jump (the highest one in NZ and Australia) so we headed to the office to be taken by the shuttle to the site - which was a suspended cable car in the middle of nowehere 134m above the ground! I went up to watch as a spectator with Arber. I was so nervous for him when he did his jump, he was really excited but I was so scared! His went really well and he didn't even look the tiniest bit scared! I was really impressed with him. After watching everyone else do theres though I felt like I should do it...it was petrifying but after some persuation I decided to do it. Getting harnessed up and walking to the edge was the most scarred I have been in my entire life, but I did it and jumped on 1 and it was fantastic. The freefall itself felt like it lasted for ever, you could see the ground coming towards you really quickly with nothing stopping you! It was the most bizarre feeling but as soon as the bungy cord kicked in I felt so pleased with myself. I was winched back up & was so amazed at what I had just achieved!
That evening was our last night in Queenstown so we decided to celebrate with a famous Ferg Burger and some drinks. We went to the World Bar where we drank cocktails from teapots....what an experience!
It was really sad to leave Queenstown and all the people we had met, the place itself was lovely with so much to do and so pretty.
