After another early start we left Lakes Entrance at sunrise to make our way along the Snowy River to get to Jindabyne. We had an interesting drive along a very narrow dirt road up a steep hill (...mum you would have hated it!). We spent a lot of the journey looking at how close the wheels of the bus were to the edge of the hill! We drove through some tiny villages that were built up the hill in which only 6 people lived. We also saw a hung dog outside someones house...apparently there as a trophy of his achievement in catching his neighbours dog who had been chasing their sheep..it was really gross (We do have a picture but have spared you all for the time being...). Apart from the dead dog we saw some lovely views, lots of wildlife & native plants.
We reached Jindabyne and drove up towards Blue Cow Mountain to see some snow and have a go at tobogganing. It was lots of fun. From there we went back to the hotel & made use of the sauna and swimming pool before heading to dinner. We had a steak that we cooked ourself on the grill...turned out to be really lovely & perfectly cooked but personally i think that was a fluke. We entered a pool competion with the locals at the bar and somehow I managed to get through to the second round...I think it had a lot to do with the fact that the guy I was playing was pretty drunk..!
Arber:
she played a guy named Red how cool is that!! and he was the best there so its not bad at all to play the local champ!!! me i lost first round! - tobogganing was really fun i have never tried it before and it was fun to listen to katie as she screamed all the way down the hill side whilst i tried to steer what was effectvly a plastic canteen tray!!
the Steak was amazing and huge me and kate ate it in what felt like 2 mins flat!!
That night was a great laugh and a chance for everyone to let there hair down!!
The man from snowy river was played to us in the minibus and it really discribes the atmosphere of this place it was an amazing poem so good in fact its printed on the $10 bill here in Oz !
