After the long bus journey from 1770 i arrived in airlie beach around 6am. The trip wasnt too bad as a managed to get some sleep so it went pretty quickly!
The hostel picked us up but then we didnt check in until 10am so i spent the morning asleep on a sofa in the internet room!
After hours of waiting i finally got in to my room which was great! Ensuite, kitchen, balcony, and aircon, not had that kind of luxury for ages! And the girls in my room were really nice. I spent most of the day sorting loads of washing out and checking myself in for the boat trip 2moro. Then later that night i went out with girls as it was St patricks day so the place was packed! At one point a guy dressed in a potato sack climbed up onto our balcony!!! Good thing he was pretty fit other wise we would have gone mad! The girls i spent most of the night with were actually scottish and their main priority was watching the rugby union later on, my kind of girls!
Airlie beach is the first place in a while where the nightlife has been pretty good! Its full of backpackers! I gave in around 1.30pm and headed back to the room to bed. Today im going on my boat trip around the Whitsundays! My boat is called habibis and i will be living onboard for 3 days 2 nights. Should be good fun! Plenty of snorkelling and we get to visit Whithaven beach, which most people claim to be the most beautiful beach they have ever seen!
Fingers crossed i dont get too sea sick. Bye for now, xx

Hey guys
The boat trip was really really good. Didnt really do much, we just sailed around and snorkelled a few times really. Enjoyed it though!
We left airlie around 2.30pm and sailed for a couple of hours to where we would be spending the night. The weather has been a little hit a miss for a few days, one minute boiling hot, next minute theres showers. Not too crazy though, but it did mean that the sea was a bit rough sometimes!! Dad you wouldnt have lasted two minutes!!! haha! Couldnt believe i was planning on spending two nights on the thing, buts it weird how quickly you get used to it.
There was probably about 20 of us on the boat, 4 boys and the rest girls! Pretty poor ratio but never mind. The crew we had were great! They really looked after us and were a good laugh.
Once we had anchored up in a hidden cove where it was supposed to be calm (but it wasnt) we had food. The food on the boat was the best ive had in ages! Being on my own i only really have small cheap meals but they gave us loads! BBQ first night with sausage, steak, chicken, salad, bread and plenty of it. Second night we had Spag Bol with garlic bread and salad which was gorgeous. And inbetween we had cereals, toast and fruit for breaky, and pasta salads and rice etc for lunch! And still we had afternoon tea with chocolate buscuits and donuts!! How fab!! haha!
The only think that we had to bring was booze, so i bought a box of wine for $10 (which was way too much but cheap). Everyone calls the boxes of wine out here goone! Something to do with the box they are in, but the goone is also pretty rank stuff, on the box it says it contains nuts, fish, eggs and milk! What?? I didnt know about this until i bought it but oh well, it will do!
The first night on the boat was pretty weird. Didnt had a big night with the booze so went to bed pretty early. The beds were tiny! But they were fine! Inside the cabin it was all wooden and its hard to beleive that so many people could sleep on the boat, but they cram a little bed into anywhere possible. The only problem was that it was so hot down there! If wanted you cold sleep under the stars on the top deck but it poured it down during the night so not an option. It was ok, the rocking of the boat was weird but i coped.
Next morning was when i felt a bit sicky. The skipper starts the engine at 6am so were all up around then. Waking up on a rocking boat kind of turns you stomach a little a few people had to be sick over the side. There only one source of fresh water which is the tap for washing up so a shower wasnt really an option. Brushing you teeth consisted of a cup of fresh water and spitting over the side of the boat, nice!! Ha
Anyway off we went to whithaven island. Where we stopped was a very popular place for sea turtles! I saw loads! There huge! You just look out into the sea and now and again you will see a little head pop up out of the water. Sometimes they came right up to the boat so you could see how big they were, great! They off we went onto whithaven island in search of the famous Whithaven beach, currently in the top 3 for best beaches in the world sharing it with the one in hawaii and one in thailand. It used to be number one for 11 years running! The reason for this is that the beach is 99.9% pure sand! And is considered to be the best sand for making glass.
So we got dropped of on on side of the island, and had to do a little bush walk up to a lookout over the beach. It was gorgeous. Unfortunatley it was high tide so the view wasnt as good as it can be but it was still gorgeous. They we had to back track through the bush walk (which by the way had a few giant spiders, dont ask) and onto whithaven beach. itself. In order to go for a swim we had to wear stinger suites because it is still jelly fish season. Very flattering i must admit, not. Anyway it was great to have a swim and then to add to that, in the water there were little sharks!! And now and again they jumped out of teh water! I forget which ones they were but they we very pale yellow colour making them very hard to spot. So that was pretty cool.
After there we went back on the boat and sailed to a place for some snorkelling which was really really good, i could do it all day, its just so relaxing! Then off again to where we were going to spend teh night, which was a lot lot calmer than the previous night. Here we did some more snorkelling which was even better than the previous spot because the tide was lower so you were close to the fish!
That night we had a few drinks and played a few drinking games, i have loads to teach you all. had a great time! I spent most of my time with some irish girls, they were so funny! The best sense of humor so kept me very entertained!
The next morning we had another snorkel before heading back to airlie beach. As i say we didnt really do that much on the boat, but it was very very relaxing and an experience il never forget! Living on a boat is very strange! No wonder a lot of sailers are a bit crazy!
That night we all met up in airlie beach for a few drinks, crew and all! Its fair to say i got very drunk, too many jurga bombs! Oh my god just wait until i get you girls onto them. had a really good night. In one of the clubs they had a wet tshirt competition which one of our girls entered so we supported her like mad but unfortunatley she still didnt win. $500 for the winner how good is that! Anyway i got to bed about 3am and was up at 7.30am to catch a bus to magnetic island where i am now, and its fair to say i feel like s**t! The bus trip was terrible as well which didnt help, the driver kept getting lost! We went over the same bridge 3 times!! Plus the air con didnt work, nightmare!
Anyway ive finally managed to get here! magnetic island which is just off a place called townsville! Looks like its going to be nice.
Bye for now!!
Enjoy xx
Oh and one thing i have forgotten to mention was that before my night out with the crew i went to a shark exhibition! Its the home to a guy who captures great whites and he has a real frozen one that you can go and see! God it was huge!! Very very scary!!
