I arrived in 1770 (gets its names from the date thats captain cook landed there) pretty late so i spent the night in the hostel. I stayed in a hostel called cool bananas and it was definatley one of the best i have been in. The staff were so nice and it was such a clean place. I swear the guy who owned it was a clean freak, always lining up magazines in certian ways etc. A member of staff there cooks dinner every night that you can buy for $5! So that night i got myself some homemade vegetable curry and rice, awesome.
The next day i had to check out but my bus wasnt until 8pm that night so i was still able to use the facilities. Every morning the hostel do a free shuttle tour of the village so i hopped on. They drove around the village (which didnt take long as it was tiny) and stopped at a few places for photos as it was a very beautiful place. Its very very small and there isnt much there but it has a nice laid back feel about the place.
After the tour me and some other girls in the hostel who were also waiting for the late bus signed up to do scooteroo tour!! This guy own loads of scooters and choppers and takes people out on them for a 3 hour tour. I couldnt quite decide on which bike to get, i was going to be weedy and pick the easy scooter but then when i saw the choppers, i couldnt resist a go! When i get the pictures up you will see why. I managed to get a really groovy black one with flames painted along it. Dont worry, unlike thailand we were given helmets and actual lessons on how to ride the things. I must say i had such a great time!!! There must have been 40 of us all riding these bikes along the roads so we were quite a sight! We went up the hills, past loads of wild kangaroos, saw a crocodile in a lake, and saw plenty of snakes but thankfully they were dead ones that had been squished on the road!
Towards the end of the ride they took us down to a bar where we were given wedges and a beer before sitting outside and watching the sunset! Wicked!
By the time we got back it was 7pm so not long before my bus! I had a great day, and defo thinking about buying a chopper when i get back! haha!
Next up was a long 10 hour over night bus ride to Arlie beach. What fun!
