After a terrible bus journey from Airle beach i finally made it to magnetic island! I could see straigh away that this was a very nice place and i wish i had booked to stay longer. The majority of the island is a national park so there is a lot of rainforest and wildlfe. Wild koala spotting is very comman.

I arrived at my hostel around 6pm. The hostel was located in a resort that had 2 pools, 2 bars, shops, cafes and a restuarant which i had discount tokens for! Unfortunatley the rooms were not brilliant, despite the ensuite which is always a bonus, the room was very damp and had a weird kind of cabbage smell to it! We were also only given bottom sheets for the beds so i had to use my little travel pillow and my sarong for a duvet. Could have been worse i guess.

I was pretty shattered seen as i was hung over and had been travelling all day so i was planning on an early night, until i stumbled upon Cane Toad racing! They do it every week! The guy in charge was hilarious, i couldnt tell what he was saying! One by one he would bring out a toad, each with there own coloured ribbon, and give us an introduction to each toad. He would then put them on the floor so the crowd could watch them hop along! Then the crowd would shout out bids for each toad. The toads were placed inside a container in the middle of a circle, and the winning toad was the first toad to hop out of the circle once they were released from the container. The winning bidder takes all! It was hilarious! The toads were so quick and they would end up jumping into the crowd, so you can imagine the screams from the women and the laughing from the men! It was great!

The next day all i did was spend the day down by the pool swimming and sunbathing!! It was great! Caught myself a good tan!

At night i went to visit another hostel with a couple of girls from my room, they were from castleford!! How cool! Anyway they had hired a little car for going around the island, it was little a little barbie car! Wish i had taken a photo! So we drove down to this other hostel to see if anything interesting was happening but no luck and we ended up back at ours. A pool competition was on and a few of the guys from the boat trip in the whitsundays were playing so i gave them some support. In the end one of them actually won it, so beers all round!

I didnt stay out long and was in bed pretty early again, but i had a bus in the morning up to mission beach, so i decided i didnt want a repeat of the previous trip.

Magnetic island was a very beautiful place but i didnt really see much of it, i wish i had stayed a little longer. Never mind!
