After a 3 hours journey on the greyhound bus i arrived in Noosa at around 5pm. The backpackers i was booked with had a courtesy bus too and from the station so it was pretty easy getting there. The backpackers was in noosaville which is just out of the centre, but is located along the river and its absolutely gorgeous! All the houses in Noosa are very beautiful and it was a lovely place to go for walks. Unfortunately my day ended pretty soon as it began to rain very heavily so the rest of the night was spent in the hostel.
Next morning i got the bus back to the station where i was connecting onto the Australia Zoo bus! During the bus ride they played a video of steve erwins best moments and past interviews with him and his family. Must admit at times people were close to tears, especially when he talked about the death of his dog!! So sad!! haha!!
Anyway once we arrived it was pretty clear the they are not going to let Steve Erwin be forgotten, his face was everywhere!! Episodes of his crocodile hunter programmes were being shown all over the zoo on big plazma tvs! It was nice though because he was very funny!
The day was brilliant. The habitat that the animals were in are the best ive seen. One thing they do that ive never seen before was that they take the animals on walks like you would a dog! Within 10minutes of being there i saw a cheeter and some dingos being taken for a walk. They also take the elephants for a walk and you are allowed to feed them! One time i was coming out of the toilet and two huge camels walked right past me having their daily walk!!
The best part of the day was the Crocodile show! They have built a stadium that they call the Crocoseum and this is where Erwin did his crocodile shows. They had just developed a new show which also included birds, elephants, snakes and then the crocs. The bird part was brilliant as they let them fly around the stadium and they land really close to you. The show was a lot of fun!
I spent a good day at the zoo and arrived back in noosa around 5pm. Before going back to the hostel i had a quick walk around the centre as i had not really seen much of noosa. The place was very nice, very clean and modern.
At sunset i went for a stroll along the river near are hostel which was gorgeous! Along the river were a few nice restaurants and bars but i found myself a top Fish and Chip shop and ate it at the side of the river! Awesome! Very relaxing evening after a busy day at the zoo, where by the way it had been boiling hot!! the hottest for a while!!
Noosa was a very nice place i just wish i had had more time there as i didn't get to see all lot of it.
Next stop, Hervey Bay and Fraser island!!
