Hey
After the ferry from Magnetic Island to Townsville, and then the greyhound from Townsville to Mission Beach, i finally made it there around 5pm. Mission beach certainly wasnt what i expected. I assumed it would be another typical beach village like airlie or noosa, but it wasnt at all. It was tiny! Only a handful of shops! And its very very tropical so really green and picturesque! And there wasnt a lot of people there so it was very quiet.
I stayed in a hostel called the Beach Shack which was pretty cool actually. It was a no shoe hostel so you had to walk around barefeet everywhere. It was a really funky place. Good first impression so far....
Didnt really do that much that day. i walked into town for some food shopping an ended up watching a few films back at the hostel. A very relaxing night.
So i went to bed and in our room a load of girls were all stood talking in our room. They claimed that they had found a flipping Scorpian in our room and they had managed to trap it under a cup! haha! So they had to go get one of the boys to come and remove it! I had already seen a few bugs around but kind of getting used to them, but my first time with a scorpian. Thankfully a lad got rid of it for us, but then the girls started telling me how there were bed bugs!! I havent had these yet but i have seen what they can do to people!! You see lots of travellers covered, and i mean covered in bites! So that night we slept with the lights on, a tip which i girl gave saying it scares them away.
Thankfully i slept ok and didnt get bitten!!!
Not really a huge amount to do in mission beach. A lot of people go there to either sky dive or white water rafting, but ive already done them! there was a beach but it wasnt really nice enough to spend all day on. So i spent most of the day walking around the village really, which didnt take very long. Even though there wasnt much there i definatley liked it there, something different from the usual backpacker scene!
Only two nights there which was is enough. Next stop Cairns!!
