Kate's Chronicles
Still busy preparing for my adventure to Tibet....only 5 sleeps to go before I head off. I think some of my students are more excited than me and they have all been giving me suggestions on what to do to "stay well" - lots of traditional Chinese medicine in little bags have been presented to me this week with instructions on how to use them and for what!!!
My postgraduate Masters students decided that last week's lesson was going to be dedicated to me learning some basic Tai Chi. Given that the class is basically free topics on anything health related I agreed as they would have to give me instructions in English and hence achieve the objective of them speaking in English. Well with much fun and laughter I can say I now know the first 3 movements......only 21 to go for this particular sequence!! Guess a few more lessons might be in order.
Friday afternoon after classes I decided it was time to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure at this delightful little salon called "sweet love in nails". I find some of the shop names here to be quite hilarious and am still trying to work our where I get the love in nails!! I keep getting told by my students that I should be loved by "someone" and not on my own so I guess a beauty salon is as good as any place to start......a couple of hours of being pampered and I was walking on air!!
This week I will be busy teaching, lesson planning and packing ready to head off bright and early Saturday morning - am on the 0800 plane so head out to the airport at about 0600 - not being a morning person this will be a bit of a chore but then I have to remind myself where I am going!!
Thursday evening I am attending a National Day Banquet as a guest of the Jiangsu Provincial Government......not sure whether to be excited or nervous!! I am told that I must be a VIP to be invited to such an auspicious event. Look forward to telling you all about it.
That's it for now so until next time...which hopefully will be from Tibet.....bye for now. xxxx
