First full day in London! We were wide awake at 4.30am and wandering the hostel. Too much sleep yesterday apparently!
Showered at 6am, eating breakfast at 7am. We were typical poor backpackers and made rolls for our lunches from the breakfast selection and stashed them in our bags for later :)
After having a Skype session with the family we bought a hop on hop off bus pass and headed for the bus.
It's been a big day! We saw st Paul's cathedral, amazing building, although we are poor & didn't pay to go and look around. Went on a river cruise down the Thames. Watched Big Ben strike 12pm as we ate our rolls by the Thames. Went and visited the Queen, she said to say hello to you all! Went over the Tower Bridge and later watched it open from the London Bridge. Ate our other roll sitting in the sun in St James park. Admired the London Eye from afar, that's tomorrow's mission! Walked past the Tower of London, also tomorrows mission! Had a photo in a telephone box, typical tourists. Drove around and admired Westminster abbey. Looked at the prices of a play on the West End, instead we just walked around the West End. Gave up on the bus when it hit peak hour traffic so got off and walked back to our hostel instead. Stopped at m&m world on our way, £1.99 for 100g of m&ms, hence we just browsed! Back to the hostel to freshen up at 6pm and awoke at 7.30pm, without ever intending to have a nap!
Its now 9.15pm and we're currently sitting at Callaghans Irish Pub around the corner from the hostel, belly's full and absolutely exhausted from our day! Kristen's hitting it hard with her lemonade, and I'm enjoying a cider! We both ordered fish and chips, it's true, England does it best!
