Happiness Is The Road
Despite the heat we had a good nights sleep as we were absolutely knackered. We got up late and after a leisurely brekkie we went to find a Big W to do some shopping. The shopping centre was nicely air conditioned and you forget just how hot it is outside. When we came out it was like walking into an oven. It was incredibly hot again today. We then put Pin Oak Court in the suburb of Vermont South into the Tom Tom and off we went. For those of you who don't know Pin Oak Court is better known as Ramsay Street. It is the road that they use for the outside filming of Neighbours. It is in a nice Melbourne suburb and is a real road where people live. They are paid by the TV company for the outside scenes to be filmed once or twice a week. All the indoor scenes on Neighbours are filmed in a studio. Although neither of us has watched Neighbours for over ten years we recognised some of the houses, in particular the Madge and Harold residence and the Robinson household. As there was no filming being done today we were free to park up at the bottom of the road and have a good mooch around. We noticed that one of the houses is currently up for sale by auction. As the board says it's a chance to own a piece of Australian TV history. After getting our Neighbours fix we headed off back to the camp site through the sprawling Melbourne suburbs. We went for a swim in the pool and just chilled for the rest of the day. Just after we'd had our tea it started to rain a little bit. We were lying in the back of the camper when suddenly there was a whoosh and screaming noise from the tree behind. Something had fallen into the branches lower down. Upon closer inspection it was a spotted Quoll which had either fallen out of the tree in it's sleep or it had misjudged a jump. Either way it seemed a little shocked and quite embarrassed! It was a beautiful animal. We went to sleep to the sound of the rain.
