Heavenly - is the word I would use to describe lastnights sleep, I slept like an absolute log and was even able to sleep-in until about 5:30am. I went and watched the sun rise over the crater and enjoy the tranquility of this peaceful place. Randall, John and Sarah were off early today as they had to hike back to yesterday's starting point to catch the bus back to Sucre so I said my goodbyes and then headed for the kitchen to make myself a hot chocolate. Roger slept in as usual so I tried to hurry him up in the kitchen but he is incredibly slow with his cooking and an hour later our breakfast was served; porridge, banana, apple, nuts, Raisens, biscuits and hot chocolate - once again another delicious meal. After breakfast we had to wake the German; Sven up as he was sound asleep and after repeated tries finally got him to awake. We packed our things and made our way to the top of the crater; this part of the walk was quite steep and difficult and we stopped quite a few times for breaks aswell as to give food to the local kids. When we reached the top of the crater we could see kids from the farms below running up the hill towards us in the hope of money or food. To be honest the kids were quite annoying and they were not really friendly just putting their hands out and expecting stuff- the result of previous tourists I guess. We continued walking along the crater edge and then into the valley where there was a small settlement of two families where we stopped and set up our lunch. For lunch we had another massive feast of vegetables, salad, eggs, tortillas and coke - unfortunately it was really early so none of us were really hungry as we had just had a big breakfast. We sat around for a while chatting and then made our way 10 minutes up another ridge to the famous Dinosaur footprints. This amazing site was completely open and consisted of a 100m of granite like rock that a number of dinosaurs had walked through 80 million years ago and due to climatic conditions the footprints were entrenched in the rock. I was blown away by how intact the prints were and how many different types of prints there were. The fact that we could touch them and get so close was truly amazing as there are not many places in the world where dinosaur footprints exist little own where you are able to interact with them. After some photos and a brief explanation of the area and the footprints it was time to get moving again - another short hike up another ridge and we could see our destination for the evening: Potoli. The rest of the hike snaked down and around ridges, crevasses, roads and small towns. Roger had picked up the pace and we spent the next two and half hours walking at a faster pace then we had walked the whole journey. My pack started to get really heavy at one point and so I was thankful to see the town coming up. Arriving into Potoli we found a small but well developed town with what must of been a few hundred families, making our way to our accommodations we found a nice set of bungalows. The bungalows had hot showers so we all made the most of a hot shower then sat around planning our trips through the rest of Bolivia and then onto Chile. It turns out myself Dez, Sven and Peter are all heading in the same direction with around the same cities and regions in mind so we are all going to travel together until the North of Chile. Dinner was served and once again another feast; quinoa soup followed by roast vegetables and boiled eggs. After dinner we had some hot chocolate then sat around outside discussing more about our travel plans. By 9:30pm I was absolutely spent and had to call it a night - passing out as soon as my head hit the pillow.
