After a really good nights sleep I was up at 5:30am to do my exercises and enjoy the peacefulness of being out in a small village. Roger and Mark were up by 6:30am and the kettle was on for some hot chocolate - Mark was leaving us this morning as Randall the owner was coming out to meet us today with the two other hikers. For breakfast we had the delicious banana bread with Raisens, nuts and chocolate again, along with some boiled eggs, bread, corn chips and nuts - I certainly won't be going hungry on this trip. After packing our things we started walking and after only 30 minutes arrived at our meeting point: where we would meet the other group. Unfortunately the other group hadn't arrived yet and we had a long wait but it was already sitting and enjoying the scenery and seeing the few locals going about their daily errands. I have a lot of time to think out here and my thoughts are very clear whereas in the city life is so rushed and hectic it's hard to find peace in your mind. Randall and the others finally arrived and they had a couple of extra people with them; a couple of Irish lads, a German lad, a Canadian and a Kiwi chick. The Irish lad and Kiwi chick were a couple of travel bloggers and they were just doing the two day trek but would be joining us for today and tonight. We started walking and walked along a short road before crossing the valleys river bed, there was a few slight inclines but for most part the walking was very easy. After a short stop for snacks we were back walking along the river bank looking at incredible scenery and before long it was time to stop again; it seems like the 6 or 7 hours of walking is a bit over-exagerated. For lunch we stopped at this bizzare waterfall that was coming out the side of the mountain and had a small lagoon at its base, no one was really keen to swim so we just sat around and enjoyed the scenery whilst Randall and Roger made lunch. Lunch was another wonderful feast with the same salads, vegetables and bits and pieces as yesterday - I think I ate about three plate fulls before having to stop myself. The next hour everyone had siesta but I was to full of energy so I went for a bit of a wonder around and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. After the two hours of lunch break we loaded up and headed up the hill to the lookout where we stopped again, this time for some really nice photo opportunities. There are some really interesting people in the group and I got to chat with Sarah and John about their careers as travel bloggers and accomplished authors. Sarah offered me the opportunity to do guest blogs on her website that I Ofcourse will jump at and use to give me some motivation to write. Reaching the edge of the crater we stopped and once again had a good opportunity to enjoy our wonderful surroundings and see a few of the local farmers going about their daily farming duties. Another half an hour walk and we climb up and over the wall of the crater and into the local community of Maragua of which the crater is named after: Maragua Crater (Maragua meaning more water). Our guide Roger gave a description and outline of the area whilst Randall translated for those of us that couldn't understand every word. We walked down into the community which is comprised of around 100 families spread throughout the crater and visited the school which unfortunately was closed. Making our way over to our cabins we realized there was literally no one in the village and we had no access to our accommodations. Roger went off in search of the keys whilst we sat around and watched the sun go down. Nearlly two hours later we got into our accommodation and wow another nice surprise with comfortable beds, decent bathrooms and what appeared to be a hot shower. Being freezing cold from standing around and seeing the electric shower I jumped straight in and was hit the cruel realization that the water was cold very cold. I was in and out of the shower as quick as two shakes of a lambs tale and wrapped up in my warmest clothes to try get my body temp back up. Dinner was to be served in a different hut so we all headed over and sat around chatting waiting for Roger to create his magic in the kitchen. By the time dinner was ready we were all ravenous; dinner was a thick mushroom soup, sautéed vegetables and for mains salad, quinoa and potatoes. Everyone was full and by this time it was around 10pm so after a little more chatting we were all off to bed.
