After not a lot of sleep again (too many things on my mind) I was up early and making the most of my last day in La Paz. To be honest I have been feeling very uncomfortable in Nyrzha's house since returning to La Paz and the main reason is the English Couchsurfer - she is incredibly negative and rude and does her best to make me feel uncomfortable and I feel as if she has turned Nyrzha against me. I actually feel quite sorry for her she is a large girl, quite a bit older and has nothing nice to say, I greeted her a good morning 3 times today with no response so I made the point of saying its common courtesy when someone acknowledges you..... I went for a walk around San Miguel and brought a few presents for Nyrzha to thank her for everything she has done for me; some chocolates, a travelers compact sleep sheet and a nice photo of us at her sisters baby shower. I did my last bout of cooking: a quiche for tonight's dinner on the bus, before showering and packing the last of my things. Luckily Nyrzha was home and we got to say our goodbyes, it turns out Nyrzha is very sad at the moment and she made me feel very bad for not having to worry about working, bills and the consumerist world. Nyrzha actually has a wonderful life, with a great family, beautiful apartment, 2 beautiful dogs and the list goes on - its just hard sometimes for us to see all the good in our life. At around 5pm I loaded up all my things - I seemed to have gained quite a few extra things even though at the same time having left a number of things, and made my way to the bus terminal. The lovely girl at the tourist info desk had told me to buy my ticket just before buses leave and hopefully get a discounted price - I stopped and asked her and with a strange look she confessed she had forgotten there was a strike today and only a couple of buses were going to Sucre. Oh s*** now I have a problem - 20 minutes to the buses leave and all the prices are double what I expected to pay or buses are full. With 5 minutes to spare I found a basic bus with no toilet and managed to talk the price down to about $10, I paid the money and rushed to board the bus. Thankfully the bus doesn't look to bad and is classified as semi-cama (seats recline somewhat). About 30 minutes out of La Paz we stopped for nearly an hour loading up the bus with more passengers and then made our way out of the city. Because of the strike we had to take a different road to La Paz and the first 2 hours were spent in heavy traffic - traveling at snails pace. Unfortunately the bus was full and I had an overweight Bolivian guy next to me who took up half of my seat along with his seat and the next seat were a young family with a baby that cried the whole way to Sucre. I guess I was slightly unlucky being so close to a crying baby the whole way but it made me realize I definitely don't want a child anytime soon. I decided to take a sleeping pill and it worked a treat being able to sleep most of the way, only waking for our dinner stop at 1:30am.
