Today we had the option of going to watch the sunrise at 5:30am - myself, Miriam, Julia and Ricardo got up but the rest of our group decided to sleep-in. The guide was late and when he arrived you could tell he didn't really want to go but we made him go anyways. We boarded the boat and headed up the river to a special lookout, on arrival we found there were too many clouds to see a perfect sunrise. We did however get to see the sunrise piercing through the clouds and there was a mist of the plain where you could just make out trees in the distance which was pretty spectacular. We were back at camp by 6:30am and all decided to go back to bed until breakfast at 8am. Our last breakfast was a treat with deep fried bits and pieces from donuts to papadons and fried empanadas - we all ate too much and felt sick from the excess amount of oil. After breakfast we headed out on the boat to go Pirahna fishing, we parked under some trees and once again tried to catch some of these little fish. Today I had my game on and managed to catch 12 fish from Pirahnas to catfish to other strange fish from the river. Everyone had a blast and most people managed to catch atleast 1 fish, our guide pulled in a huge catfish and we were all stoked; ending up with about 25 fish to eat with lunch. There were a few alligators hanging around and an eagle that we managed to feed some fish to; all in all the fishing was my favorite part of the Pampas trip. We headed back to the camp, packed our bags and had an early lunch which included our bounty of fish; simply fried but incredibly tasty and then it was time to board our back and make the hour and a half journey back to Santa Rosa along the river. I chatted to the young Americans about the possibility of coming to visit them in Oregon next year and the trip went really quick. At Santa Rosa we jumped in our Land Cruiser and were off back to Rurrenabaque a terrible and long 3 hour drive along an incredibly bad road. We all thanked god when we arrived back safe and sound. Myself David, Julia and Miriam headed to our hostel which was the cheapest in town and were lucky enough to get the last two rooms. After doing some washing, showering and rearranging we cracked a few bottles of wine and celebrated a successful trip to the Amazon. It started to rain really heavily so we went around the corner and got some dinner before rushing back to our accommodation avoiding the onslaught of rain. Unfortunately we missed saying goodbye to our other friends on the tour as we had organized to meet them at the bar but because of the rain had called it off. A good night to sit and surf the Internet and relax.
