What a busy day! We set off this morning and walked to the Opera House. About 40 minutes walk. We then had a tour and the tour guide was brilliant. So funny and so much useful information. There are five auditoriums and we were able to look in three. The main one where concerts take place was spectacular with an enormous organ. There has been a wide variety of acts here including Pavrotti, Sting and WWF. It was really interesting listening to the history of the Opera House and how it was constructed. When we came out we booked tickets to see Madame Butterfly. Neither of us likes opera but we thought we ought to go just for the experience.
Then we walked to the Sydney Eye which is the tallest building here. We went up it with a 4D film on the way which was pretty amazing. You even got wet when they showed the surfing. I think that was the 4D effect! Then up to the top and amazing views all over Sydney. Luckily it was quite clear today.
We had already booked a bus trip round the city with a guided tour and that was really good. It also gave us an opportunity to walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was great!
When we got back we ran to our hotel for a quick change and then back to The Eye for a buffet dinner. We watched the sun go down and then the city was illuminated. A lovely sight especially as it was a revolving restaurant. The food was pretty good and I had emu sausages and crocodile sausages and kangaroo plus normal things as well. Mick got me a carafe of Shiraz so everything went down a treat!
It has been a very busy but fulfilling day! I am now exhausted!

Carol Fantastic a city like that at night. I love seeing it on New Year's Eve all lit up. You are lucky. The highlight of our week was Prom dress shopping for Lottie in Grimsby but she has a wow dress! Still missing you
Jenny Are there 48 hours in an Australian day? Must be to fit everything you do in. You will need a holiday to get over your holiday!! You are very adventurous with your food. At least you had something I recognised - the Shiraz. Enjoy the Opera. No getting up and singing and dancing. Serious stuff.
