Today we caught the Captain Cook ferry from Darling Harbour to Taronga Zoo. The zoo is reputed to be one of the best and is situated on a hill. It is advised to start at the top and work your way down and there is a Cable car to get to the top. But, just our luck, the cable car was shut for renovation. It is a hike up to the top but by using escalators and lifts we managed it with not too much trouble. The weather is so much cloudier and cooler than Perth which is ideal for walking around.
The zoo is very well set out and although we didn't see some of the animals because they were hiding we managed to cover most areas. The giraffes have the best view ever as they can see the bridge and the Opera House.
We spent about four hours there and then caught the ferry back just as it started to rain. By the time we got off it was pouring and very grey. Unfortunately by the time we got back to the hotel we were like drowned rats!
It is raining so much at the moment that we can hardly see across Darling Harbour. We are going to see Madame Butterfly tonight at the Opera House but have decided to get a taxi.
I am using a mobile broadband device for the Internet and I may run out of data before the end of the holiday. So if communications cease you will know why. But hopefully not.

Jenny Thought Colchester Zoo was hilly but will view it in a different light now next time we go. Lucky giraffes.
