Woah Woah Woah mysterious girl.....
We are now leaving Mission Beach after about a 15 hour visit but it was an eventful evening.
Yesterday we checked out of Cairns and headed south towards Mission Beach. Rather than taking the 2 hour highway route we were recommended to take the scenic lakes and waterfalls route. We set off just before lunch and took about 6 hours off the main highway. First stop was an amazing lake and here is where I finally saw my first turtle of our holiday. After chilling out here for a bit we got back on the road and visited 3/4 waterfalls including the one where Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl was filmed. At this one we decided to go for a swim but it was freezing so we didn't last in there long. Dan also gave us a little rendition of Peter Andre.
After viewing a bunch of waterfalls we headed to mission beach and got ourselves checked into a hostel. There was a doubles pool tournament on and we entered. Pete and I were together and were awful. We were out in the first round. Dan and Steve were together and they came second (first last). After the tournament a few of us headed to the beach to chill round a fire. It was at this point that Dan realised he had never skinny dipped in the sea before and all it took was a "go on then" from one person and he was gone. About 5 minutes later he came back shivering. We hadn't managed to get our fire going but a five minute run away we could see a fire going so of course there was only one way for Dan to warm up. Off he ran to the fire in the distance, flapping all over the place, not knowing who would be there.
When he returned I went to bed because I was driving first in the morning. Dan decided to stay out and when he returned a couple of hours later the rest of us were woken to chants by him that included "there's only one Dan Kendal" and other self praising songs.
Now we are on route to Airlie Beach to catch our 2 day boat around the Whitsunday Islands.
