That's a nice lake........
We arrived in 1770 from Airlie Beach to find that Peter Pans (the travel agent) hadn't actually booked out Castaway experience. We spent a night there and then headed to Rainbow Beach for our Fraser Island day tour. We stopped off in Bundaberg on the way for a few hours. We drove up to a 360 degree view point that we were told was one of the best views on the east coast. It was alright. Nice view but nothing special. Maybe that's because we have been lucky enough to see so many incredible views that a good view isn't that great anymore. After driving to the view point we headed back into town to play crazy golf at a place called Jurassic Putt which had a dinosaur theme (probably quite obvious). I won by beating Dan in a playoff. I never win crazy golf!!!!! Go me!!!!
After kicking everyones arses at crazy golf we got back in the car and got back on the road and drove to Rainbow Beach. With about 2 hours left I was driving and a bored Pete suggested having a couple of drinks. This wasn't fair because I quite fancied a drink too. We pulled over and pulled for high card. Lowest card drove and that responsibility fell to Steve. So we got back on the road again and got the goon out. A couple of hours later we arrived at our hostel quite smashed and continued the drinking.
Next morning we were up bright and early to catch the bus for our Fraser Island tour. The bus pulled onto a ferry over to Fraser and we were there within half an hour. The morning started with a drive along the beach stopping to are a shipwreck, some rocks, and a creek. At this point I didn't get why everyone raved about Fraser and neither did the others. Bit confused as to why everyone loved Fraser Island so much we headed for lunch and in the afternoon it became clear.
Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world and it had no roads. This meant that in the afternoon, when we went more inland, the roads were bumpy and it was basically 4x4 driving in a bus. Our main stop in the afternoon was Lake Mackenzie and it was beautiful. Steve, who loves lakes (a bit too much), said it was his new favourite lake. After this we headed back, stopping off at one more site on the way.
We are now driving back to 1770 to do Castaway
Hope all is good
