Well I’m off to Fribourg by the Switzerland rail system, one of the best known in the world . So after a poor nights sleep I’m on the shuttle bus back to Zurich to the train station. Where the hell do I get this train, what platform , what time, the ticket just says “you catch it all day”. I grab some Maccas, bacon and egg burger and coffee , not that great . Right lets find our way around so let’s ask. First there was station attendant who point to the sign hanging near two Big blue numbers they turned out to be platform numbers but I couldn’t find the platform I was leaving from. I spotted the Swiss railroad centre and here we had success ,they gave me the time I was leaving the platform it was leaving from and the time it would arrive.
The train left the station at 8.17 am ,it had six stops between Zurich and Geneva ,mine was the third.As a train lover I had to catch a picture of this train so there is one or two in the album. The train ride is quite relaxing ,there is little to none noise like the click clack of our own system , train personal come and politely ask you for your ticket to scan then leave the same way.
The view along this journey is beautiful but also disappointing as the city is engulfing the beauty of the country so quickly that it is not until the outskirts of Berne that the rich green fields and the black and white of the cows become the main stay of my view, this has taken 45 minutes to happen.
The train as per the Swiss system practice was right on time ,a bit of trouble ringing Danielle , a call to Telstra and they explain that I must be ringing only Mobil phone ,so now I’m on 10 dollar a day roaming plan in case of trouble.
Danielle arrives ,takes me to her beautiful home ,it just like scene out the Sound of Music, of course that what I do , sing that song ,just a part of it. We all have lunch couple beers and wine and now with out much help it is sleep time. I awake go down stair Shirley had just rung she is at the station so we are of to get her , she find but tired ,we get home ,a coffee ,a piece of home made cherry tart , a dash of ten year old port and we all are off to bed.
So the blog team are reunited, all is well in travel land and hopefully we will catch you on our next blog.
