The weather forecast for today wasn't good but it looked like the rain was behind us as we headed up the side of the hill and into Arches NP. Again we are amazed at the sights all around us as we drive the short distance to the first viewpoint - large red rock formations and beautiful views of them all around. We took photos of the three gossips - rock formations high up at the top of a rock slab. We drove further into the park and were amazed at cove arch and the north and south windows. Further still we drive to the viewpoint for delicate arch, deciding not to do the walk as the rain was getting closer. We walked up and up to get to the viewpoint for delicate arch - a lovely arch sitting high on top of a rock slab. By now the rain was starting and we made our way down before it got too slippery. We had seen about half of the sights and decided it was best to leave the park as there were flash flood warnings.
We had a drive of about 175 miles to our stop for tonight - Richfield - about half way to Zion NP. We stopped for lunch at a placed called Green River. Seeing as we got in to Richfield reasonably early we went to Walmart where Peter had a haircut for $15.50 and I had my hair washed and blow waved for $10.50 - it had gone all curly in the rain so I feel human again :-) we'll have our Anniversary dinner at a steakhouse next door to the Holiday Inn Express where we're staying for the night.
