On Monday morning we left Munduk and headed north to our destination, Lovina. On the way we stopped at Banjar Hot Springs and spent about an hour there in the three hot pools.
We arrived at Lovina and checked into a small hotel called Adirama where we are paying about $50 per night for a room by the pool with KS bed and air-con. Like all places we have stayed, breakfast and free wifi is part of the deal. We spent the afternoon by the pool and ordered lunch from the beach front restaurant where we ate and watched the waves (small) lap the shores or the black sandy beach.
On dusk we walked along the beach to a place called Kalibukbuk which is like the town centre. There was a paved walk way with stalls selling souvenirs and further on a group of restaurants and bars. We had a few drinks and watched the sun set as well as watching some local boys play a game of volleyball. After our drinks we walked into the side street and had dinner at Warung Apple. Warung is Indonesian for small restaurant. Our food was good and each dish only cost us $3-$4. We walked home on the main road, maybe a kilometre or slightly more then retired for the night.
This morning we had a driver pick us up at 9.30 for the two hour drive east to Amed stopping along the way at a temple on a hill above the beach. We passed many areas of beach and all seemed to have black sand or black rocks. Most of the area here is fishing and as we got closer to Amed it is supposedly a good dive area. We drove with the view of Mount Agung on the last part of the trip. We checked into Apa Kebala and are sharing a 2-bedroom villa right on the pool and beach. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there is a central living area as well as a large area under cover with lounges to sit outside the room. We're paying $125 per night for this and are the only guests here.
