Around the World Forever
Pushkar is home to India's largest annual camel fair where thousands of animals are bought, sold and traded every November. Wow!
It’s also an extremely religious place meaning food is strictly vegetarian and alcohol is prohibited. Fortunately, I was able to score a couple bottles of beer through the hotel owner and it was added to my bill as "cold coffee". Other than a camel ride and a few cold coffees, I really didn’t find much to fascinate me here so it’s best to keep moving. I can start to feel the pressure of tourist high season ramping up. There are fewer spaces available on the trains I need and the waitlists are growing. To get to the next city, Nora and I have decided to see what a 2nd class ticket is all about and ride with the locals in an ultra crowded, non-air-conditioned coach. May the force be with us…
