We've made it through Romania(!) - and survived the mad Romanian driving; crazy taxi drivers; pot holes, bumpy roads, gravel, missing bits of road; horse and carts, cows and goats in the road; mystery power cuts; and everything else Romania has to offer. Everyone we spoke to in Germany and Austria was horrified when we said we were heading for Romania, and even we were starting to have second thoughts. But we're really glad we decided to carry on. The scenery in parts is amazing, and there's loads to see - Sibiu, Bran, Brasov, Siniai, and Rasnov are all great places to visit and unlike anywhere else we have been to. The road conditions however are challenging, but fun in places/scary in others. The best motorcycling road we found was the 73 SW out of Bran.
Decided to stick to the back roads for our journey south. Scenery has got much flatter, but had fun waving to the children in the villages who seemed very excited to see motorbikes.
We are now in Ruse, Bulgaria. As with Romania, first impressions aren't great, but we'll see what tomorrow brings!
