Summer '12 Asia to Australia: The Great Adventure
Bangkok Day 6 (09.06.2012): We arose from our last night of sleeping at NapPark, our lovely hostel, and after a long fight to fit everything back into our backpacks, we checked out. Bags stored we caught a taxi to Taling Chan to catch the floating market. The market is on every Saturday and Sunday and is 15km away from Bangkok. Arriving around lunchtime we found a perch and sampled some of the food on offer.. Today felt very cultural.. such a lovely atmosphere and sooo much food!! People crowd around little tables, there's music playing and people are making the food on little boats. Adam ate the biggest prawns I have ever seen, whilst I chomped away on a bag of lychees. We then fed the fish which were surrounding the market.. never seen so many!
After our fill we headed back to Bangkok and our fave Khao San Road area for our last beverage before heading for the sleeper train and the next part of our travels. After some stress with being taken to the wrong train station we finally made it in time and were headed to Surat Thani by 19:30pm. We ate in the dining cart and then retired to our bunkbeds.. The journey was to be a long one!
