Ko Pha-ngan Day 1 (10.06.2012). What a journey.. what a place! We left our trusted hostel at 18:00 on 09.06.2012 and arrived at our new abode "Green Papaya Resort" 24 hours later. The sleeper train was an experience in itself. Sadly the train was late into Surat Thani causing us to be late for our bus to Don Sak Pier and in turn to miss our ferry to Ko Phangan by 5 minutes, meaning we had to wait 4 hours for the next one!

After finally catching the ferry at 14:00 (rather than 10:00), the ferry took 2.5 hours and was not the 'high-speed katamaran' I had been expecting. Thus, rather than arriving at this wonderful island by midday it was around 18:00 by the time we made it to our hotel after a scary ride in a taxi aka sitting in the back of a pick up truck.. and after much cursing about the weight of our bags. Today we were proper backpackers ah! Well until we arrived at the 'Green Papaya Resort' - this place is certainly not budget backpacking.. It's a mini paradise. We have the most wonderful wooden bungalow all to ourselves. We are only here 2 nights but it sure will be a nice break from the hostel sharing. I will upload piccies asap.

We have had a lovely relaxing evening.. had a nice swim and a nice meal on the beach. Also had a nice skype catch up with both our families today :-).
