Friday was a school holiday to attend the Royal Adelaide Show which is Adelaide's equivalent of the Calgary Stampede without a rodeo. Clare High School had some goats and steers in the show so I wanted to head down and visit with the kids to see how they placed, unfortunately they all went home on Thursday.
We got to the show at about noon and were immediately surrounded by the sights, smells and sounds of a carnival. We took an hour or so to take in all of the sights and then decided it was time for a corn dog...or a dagwood dog as the Aussies call it. We then hit some rides and were amazed at how expensive they were...each one approx. $10! Layla was only going to be going on a few of them for sure. After some rides we wandered over to the lumberjack competition which was really cool to see. We hit the show bags next which was amazing...you walk through a hall filled with kiosks selling bags full of goodies...it's an Aussie tradition I guess. I got a TimTam bag, Leanne picked up a Cadbury bag and Layla got a BFF bag. We then hit the carnival for some more rides and some more really good but really bad food.
The night was concluded by some monster trucks, Freestlye Motocross, Drifting Races and then an amazing fireworks show which was timed to Didgeridoo music.
