This was our first weekend camping in Australia! We left Clare at about 8:30 on Saturday morning as it was the Adelaide Cup Long Weekend. We met up with Rachelle, Darren, Milly, and Claudius in Ardrossan on our way where we had a coffee and a treat and then got some groceries, beverages, and were on our way south down the Yorke Peninsula toward Edithburgh.

We followed a dirt road south of Edithburgh and found a small camp spot right on the ocean where we set up for 2 nights and 3 days of 'Bush Camping".

Saturday was fun. We went to Sultana Point (Raisin Point) where we were truly in the ocean looking out to Kangaroo Island in the distance (and Antarctica farther on). At Sultana Point we went swimming (the water was a touch colder here) and snorkelling. While snorkelling, I found some Razorfish which are clam-like shelled fish that bury in the sand and have a sharp shell that sticks out. You have to dive under and wrench them out of the sand to harvest them. We found a meal's-worth of Razorfish and then headed back to camp to fry them up.

The next day we headed into Edithburgh. Layla and I went snorkelling around the jetty which was cold and rough but we saw some cool fish and a starfish! I got tapped on the leg and told by one of the locals to get out of the water. There was a 5-meter-long shark up the coast and they wanted all of the swimmers out. I was more than hapy to oblige! After that we headed back to camp to battle the flies and have lunch before driving along one of the most beautiful roads I've ever been on to Suicide Beach where the body-boarding is phenominal. It was a great beach; probably the best yet. You have to climb down about 70 stairs to get to the beach that is nestled in the cliffs. Layla had a blast body boarding and so did Leanne and I!

We headed back to the campsite for 'tea' and were in bed early...it was a very early morning and a very long day. What an amazing feeling to go to sleep looking at the stars and feeling the ocean breeze on you as you listen to the waves lull you to sleep! The sunrise the next day was equally as amazing!

It was back to Clare to clean up, unpack, do laundry, and prepare for real-life the next day. Too bad every weekend wasn't like this one!!
