Carnarvon - Coral Bay
Warmer today - sunny about 25 degrees
Up and moving again...I am looking forward to being able to spend more than one night somewhere soon. But of course Ben needs to be home by Friday so running out of time for him.
First of all we went to the supermarket to get some supplies, as Coral Bay is very expensive to buy anything.
Then we had a look at the one mile jetty. It had been built well over 120 years ago when the settlers wanted somewhere to be able to transport their cattle out of the area. There used to be a cattle race that ran the whole length of the jetty too. It is not in very good repair now, as you would expect. It really only gets used by the locals as a fishing spot now.
Then we stopped at the Caranarvon Space and Technology Museum. The satellite dish there was used during the moon landings and there was a lot of old Apollo switchboards etc. hard to believe now that this old technology was good enough to send them to the moon. Of course Ben loved it!
Then off again for Coral Bay. Not too long a drive today. We arrived about 4pm. First we went to the People's Park as it overlooked the beach, but no powered sites were available. She offered us an unpowered site for $70!!! About twice the price we have been paying! We then went next door to Bayview. A bigger park and very nice. Powered site was $63. So all good. We decided to stay here two nights. Just so we can have a bit of a rest day tomorrow and then we will move on up to Exmouth.
Went for a walk to the beach just before dark. And then came back and had steak for dinner.
